speak

speak
SPEAK OF, ABOUT, ON (UPON), WITH, TO, AT
Speak of и speak about 'разговаривать, говорить о ком-л. P. Snow's latest novel и to speak about C. P. Snow's latest novel. тему': to speak on peaceful co-existence of nations. Speak with, speak to и speak at имеют значение 'говорить с кем-л.', причем speak at предполагает настойчивый, резкий тон говорящего, имеющий целью заставить слушающего поверить во что-л. или сделать что-л.: to speak at a person aggressively. Speak with обычно предполагает, что обе стороны принимают равное участие в разговоре: to speak with a friend about the time spent together. Speak to может иметь в виду, что говорит (докладывает) только одна из сторон: to speak to the audience.
